Farming can be as rewarding as it can be challenging at times. We are totally dependent on the weather for our crop. I know there has been discussion lately on the use of pesticides in blueberry production.  Farming all over the world is dealing with a tiny trouble maker –the spotted wing drosophila.  The female lays her egg in soft skinned fruits such as raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Although there is no known risk to eating berries with the larvae in them we try our best to keep that from happening by spraying pesticides twice a week. This tiny fly has a very rapid life cycle.  We were unable to have our fields sprayed on Tuesday night as scheduled due to storming. We could not early Wednesday morning due to the weather also.

We have surveyed the fields and found some evidence of larvae.
We will be open for U pick as usual. be careful when you pick to keep firm fruits. Discard soft berries. The fields are loaded with berries. Many branches are bending down to the ground under the weight of the berries.
Our jams, honey, salsas, hot sauces, pickled items and blueberry coffees continue to available at this time.
We are open 8 AM to 4:30 PM except we are closed Sundays and Wednesdays. In 2023, the price is $2.85 per pound for pick-your-own blueberries.
